Your New Patient Exam will consist of:

• Digital X-Rays
• Patient educational software that presents common orthodontic problems and treatments
• A thorough clinical exam performed by either Dr. Cosse or Dr. Silmon
• Recommendations for treatment
• Estimated treatment time
• Answers to any of your questions and demonstration of your problems and potential treatment using our patient educational software
• Cost of treatment and any financial arrangements that can be made with flexible payment plans to fit almost any budget

What if my child is not ready for orthodontic treatment?

• If a child is not ready for treatment at this time, he/she will be scheduled to return to monitor growth and tooth eruption until he/she is developmentally ready to start treatment.

Regular Appointments

The appointment when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes 1 to 2 hours. You’ll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 10 weeks apart for an adjustment, which takes 20 to 40 minutes. Many of these appointments will inevitably conflict with your work or school schedule. To minimize missed school and work, we have organized our schedule as follows:

• Longer appointments are scheduled during school and work hours
• Shorter appointments can often be scheduled in the afternoon (after school)
• In this way, we do not reserve an entire afternoon for one or two patients, but rather see as many patients as possible during the popular appointment times.

Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.

Late or Missed Appointments

Because our schedule is carefully created due to the appointment type, arriving late for an appointment can pose a problem. In fairness to other scheduled patients, we cannot squeeze a later arrival into the schedule. We will most likely have to reschedule the appointment unless there is an unexpected opening in the schedule. All failed or late appointments should be rescheduled as soon as possible. Since the after school and work appointments are scheduled several weeks in advance due to their popularity, it will probably be necessary to reschedule the missed appointment during the middle of the day. Our goal is fairness to everyone.

Payment & Office Policies

The cost of treatment depends on the complexity of the patient’s problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have several payment plans to suit different budgets. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.

Payment Plan Options

In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

• If full payment is made at the onset of treatment, we will offer a fee discount. (If you have insurance, we will offer a discount for payment of your portion of the fee that will not be covered by insurance.)
• To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months.
• For your convenience, we accept payment by Visa, MasterCard, and Care Credit.

Insurance

If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
